Emily Lam

Emily Lam is an accomplished litigator and creative problem solver at Emily Lam Law. She has appeared at all levels of court, largely representing individuals from marginalized and racialized groups. She has a particular interest in addressing issues of systemic discrimination in both criminal and civil law, and her pracice includes conducting workplace investigations, inquests, civil Charter litigation and state accountability cases. She is a graduate from Osgoode Hall Law School and a co-founder of Group of Racialized Ontario Women Litigators (GROWL).

 

Royland Moriah

Royland is an experienced criminal lawyer and partner at Rusonik O’Connor Robbins Ross & Angelini LLP. He began his legal career as a policy lawyer at the African Canadian Legal Clinic, focusing on anti-racism and anti-discrimination advocacy and interventions. He has practiced criminal law almost exclusively for the past 17 years.

Royland regularly presents on panels dealing with criminal law issues and is a member of committees with the Criminal Lawyers Association, the Ontario Justice Education Network, the Salvation Army, and the Canadian Association of Black Lawyers. He assists as a guest lecturer for the University of Toronto Faculty of Law trial advocacy course and is a coach for the Arnup Cup trial advocacy moot team.

Shawn Richard

Shawn is an experienced family and estates lawyer. He is the founder of ASR Family and Estates Law, a litigation boutique that practices in all aspects of family and estates litigation. Shawn is a past President of the Canadian Association of Black Lawyers (CABL). He has served as a reviewer of the Peel District School Board to look into issues of anti-Black racism and has appeared before standing committees and members of provincial and federal Parliament to speak on issues affecting Black communities. Shawn is faculty at the Lincoln Alexander School of Law.
